A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Hoisington Cemetery in Hoisington, KS. for Wilma J. "Juanita" Susank, 88 , of Council Grove. She passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Diversicare of Council Grove. Memorial contributions may be given to the Community Thrift Store in Council Grove, KS. or Lighthouse Baptist Church in Emporia, KS.
Juanita was born June 29, 1925, in Poyner, MO. the daughter of Oscar Allen and Charity Lela (Spires) Pennington.
Juanita was a telephone operator for many years working for Bell Telephone in Hoisington, KS.
She attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Emporia, KS. She volunteered at the Community Thrift Store for over thirty years in Council Grove, KS. and volunteered for the Senior Center.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen June White of Stafford, KS. and Peggy Latham (Bud) of Turon, KS. She is survived by three nieces, Marlene Whitlock, Kala Oaks and Nita Hackling and three nephews, Don White, Ron White and Vaughn Marcum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elton "Bud", one sister, Norma Jeanne Marcum and two nephews.
