James Robert Markley, of White City passed away on March 26, 2015 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.
He was born on November 13, 1934 in Abilene, Kansas to Grover and Inez (Whittaker) Markley. He attended school in Abilene before leaving to work various jobs including being a meat cutter for Safeway Stores, setting mobile homes and driving for Roadrunner.
He married Myrna West on July 15, 1962. They had two children, Mike and Jamye.
James enjoyed many activities including gardening, fishing, camping, traveling and woodworking. His main enjoyment was spending time with his family and loved ones.
Jim is survived by his wife Myrna, of the home; son Mike Markley and wife Kelly, and daughter Jamye Comp and husband David, all of White City; 6 grandchildren: Ryan Markley, Pam (Jericho) Hawkins, Breanna Markley, Kelly Comp, Dustin (Jessyka) Comp, and Brent Comp; 3 great-grandchildren: Jericho Hawkins, Jr., Robert Comp, and Toni Comp; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Alice Hall, Twila Dreiling, JoAnn Mills; and a brother, Jack Markley.
