Vera F. Anderson, daughter of Griffith and Cora (Fickie) Swearingin was born in Independence, MO., June 19, 1931. Our beloved mother departed this life, to be with the Lord, on May 2, 2015. Vera grew up in Independence, MO. She was the only living child of Griff & Cora. Vera gave her life to the Lord as a young child and was active in the Fairmont Christian Church in Independence. She graduated in 1948 from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO. The following year Vera attended Manhattan Bible College where she met Frank Anderson. They were married on Oct. 2, 1949. They made their home on a farm near White City, KS. Vera shared in the ministry with Frank, along with being actively involved in the dairy farming. Together they raised three children. She remained active in the church, 4-H and various organizations for many years.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Doug (Kim) Anderson of White City, KS., daughter, Janet (Mel) Thorp of Wichita, KS., and son, Kevin (Diane) Anderson of Chino Valley, AZ., a brother-in-law, Delbert (Erma) Anderson of White City, KS. and a sister-in-law, Lois (Bob) Williams of Fort Scott, KS. Also remaining are six grandchildren, Terra (Matt) Lee, Jason Anderson, Kari (Chip) Wagner, Caleb (Melinda) Anderson, Ryan Anderson, and Alex (Katie) Anderson and many great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral Service will be Friday, May 8th at 2:00, at the White City Christian Church. No memorials have been established. If you wish to make a donation in her name the family suggests the White City Christian Church, Wilsey Christian Church, or Manhattan Christian College.
