Born Norma Faye Anderson to Ansom and Faye (McCright) Anderson on December 11, 1926 in rural Geary County, Kansas, she attended rural grade schools and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1944. After attending business school and working in Kansas City for a short time, she married Edgar Dutton on March 12, 1948. They lived in Alta Vista and Norma worked alongside her husband Edgar at the Alta Vista Produce and, later, the Alta Vista Farmer’s Co-op until she retired in 1992. Norma was a longtime member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Alta Vista and attended the United Methodist Church in Council Grove in more recent years. She was active in many aspects of the church over the years, serving on numerous boards and committees, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and sponsoring the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. She was also very committed to the United Methodist Women, a group that supports U.S. and international projects and partners improving the lives of men, women, children and youth with their prayers, volunteer and advocacy efforts, and financial gifts.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, her parents Ansom Anderson and Faye Christian, her brothers Robert, Philip, Kenneth and Lowell, and her sister Shirley.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Dutton, Council Grove; her daughters, Martha Blackman, Lenexa, KS, and Mary Ann Dutton, Bethesda, MD; her daughter-in-law Jean Veta, Bethesda, MD; her nephew, Wes Dutton, Topeka, KS, and 6 grandchildren—Annie, Jacob, Sarah, Caleb, Emma, and Micah.
