1920 - 2015

Blythe Darlene Hirt, 94, lifetime Morris County resident, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015, at Diversicare of Council Grove.

She was born August 7, 1920 in Wilsey, KS to Guy L. and Clara E. (Blythe) Burton.

Blythe married Edmund L. Hirt on January 26, 1938, in Wilsey, KS. They made their home east of Parkerville on a farm, where they raised their six children: Betty, Anita, Guy, Ed, Bill and Sue.

Blythe moved to Council Grove after Ed passed away in 2003, where she met many new friends.

She was a member of the Parkerville Baptist Church, Heart of the Home, Hobby Club and Minerva Club.

Blythe enjoyed crafting, cooking, sewing, playing cards and most of all, being a “farm wife”. She loved her family and truly enjoyed her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed Hirt, daughter, Anita Evans, son-in-law, Larry Peters and sister, Thelma Tompkins.

Blythe is survived by her children: Betty Peters, of Topeka, Guy and Janet Hirt, of Allen, Ed and Jonnie Hirt, of Topeka, Bill and Jean Hirt, of Parkerville and Sue and Billy Casey, of Tecumseh; son-in-law Larry and Sue Evans, of Manhattan; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Parkerville Baptist Church. A private family inurnment will follow at Parkerville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkerville Cemetery and may be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
