Wilmer Christian Tischhauser, 91 passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. Wilmer was born January 31, 1924, in Council Grove, Kansas, to William Paul and Pearl Agnes (Boll) Tischhauser.
He married his loving wife, Verna Marie White on May 1, 1949, in White City, at Verna’s parents’ home.
He was raised on and later operated the family farm 3 miles north of Wilsey. After retiring they purchased a motor home and traveled for ten years, before they settled and started spending the winter months in Weslaco, TX. All the while, they stayed involved in the farming operation. He enjoyed antiques and going to flea markets.
Wilmer had numerous accomplishments throughout his life. He helped organize and establish Tri-County Telephone Association, where he also served on the board of directors; member and chairman of Farm Management Association of North East Kansas; member and president of Flint Hills R.E.C.A.; representative on state-wide K.E.C. and K.E.P.C.O. board; and he was a member and served on Administrative board of Wilsey United Methodist Church.
Above all, Wilmer was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Wilmer is survived by his wife, Verna Marie, of 66 years; his two sons, Marvin Tischhauser and wife Marsha, of Wilsey and Michael Tischhauser and wife Bev, of Topeka; six grandsons, Christopher Tischhauser (wife Cathy), of Campbell, CA, Chad Tischhauser (wife Stacey), of Wilsey, Lance Tischhauser (wifeVeronica), of Wilsey, Lucas Tischhauser (wife Klarisa), of Shawnee, John Tischhauser, of Wilsey, and Scott Tischhauser, of Topeka; granddaughter, Caryl (Tischhauser) Hale (husband Aaron), of Norton; and eight great-grandchildren, Madison, Branton, and Peyton Tischhauser, of Wilsey, Starla Tischhauser, Allyson and Miles Hale, of Norton, William Tischhauser, of Campbell, CA and Malachi Tischhauser, of Shawnee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Wilsey United Methodist Church. They may be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
Casual dress is suggested.
A private family inurnment will be held prior to the service at Wilsey Cemetery.
