Mildred Pauline Larson, 97, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Diversicare of Council Grove.
She was born April 27, 1918, in Ellsworth County, KS, the daughter of Colby and Eva (Alcorn) Smith. Mildred married Kermit Larson, on August 17, 1938, in Minneapolis, KS. She moved to Council Grove in 2004.
Mildred was a housewife and the Custodian at USD 400 in Marquette, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church and a 45 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mildred enjoyed quilting, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, and cooking for her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Kermit on April 23, 1989; brother Robert Smith; and sister Margaret McKenzie.
Mildred is survived by her three sons: Lee Larson and wife Janet, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Marvin Larson and wife Sandy, of Council Grove, and Darwin Larson and wife Jill, of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren: Mike Larson, of Wamego, Patricia Villabolos, of Council Grove, La Donna Pigg, of Raytown, MO, Darci Osther, of San Diego, CA, Monita Kelsey and Eric Larson, both of Carlsbad, CA; and 10 great-grandchildren.
