Robert James “Jim” Gatewood, 69, of Parkerville, KS, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Mercy Regional Hospital.
He was born February 4, 1944, in Morris County to Robert and Zelma (Fuqua) Gatewood. He attended various country schools and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1963.
Jim was a member of Wilsey Christian Church. He retired from Morris County Highway Department after 20 years of service.
He loved his family and enjoyed life. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and horses.
Jim married Ionia “Reyna” Harris on January 21, 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Gatewood; sister, Iris Ferris; and grandson, Travis Moyer.
Jim is survived by his wife, Reyna; children, Charles Gatewood, of San Diego, CA and Christina Gatewood, of Chambersburg, PA; sister, Lucille Teneyck, of Council Grove; brother, Darrell Gatewood, of Topeka; and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, November 4, 2013, at Parkerville Baptist Church. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
