Stena Le Wolgast, 77, of Alta Vista, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. Stena was born July 25, 1937, Lindsborg, Kansas the daughter of Roy and Lillian (Anderson) Bonar. She graduated from Alta Vista High School and upon graduation served as an operator for Bell Telephone Company.
Stena was a renowned mother, raising four boys, cook, crossstitcher, quilt maker, and spoiler of her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events, concerts, plays, and special events and following the K-State Wildcats. She continued that passion attending similar events of her grandchildren.
Stena married William Wolgast on February 16, 1958. He survives. Other survivors include her sons Gregg Wolgast, his wife Marcia, of Wichita; Brett Wolgast, his wife Marita, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Eric Wolgast, his wife Lara, of Wichita; Michael Wolgast, his wife Vickie, of Olathe; and ten grandchildren (Gregg’s)Katie, Matthew, Anna, (Brett’s) Kurtis, and wife Brittany, Tyler, Kirsten, (Eric’s) Sydney, Taylor, (Michael’s) Parker and Makenna. Other survivors include sisters Lesa Massey, her husband Bob, and Linnea Rein, her husband Bill, and brother Doug Bonar, his wife Frona all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions in Stena’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Council Grove, Kansas.
