Fredicia “Fredi” Ruth Wells, 67, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away suddenly of natural causes on October 21, 2014, at the home of her son Kevin Wells, in Bronx, New York.
She was born February 2, 1947, in Ogallala, Nebraska. Her parents, both deceased, were Fred Ralph and Margaret Ruth (Peterson) Rice.
Her early years were spent on a farm near Paxton, Nebraska. The family later moved to Ogallala. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1965. In 1970, she married Marion L. Wells at Grand Island, Nebraska. They later moved to Junction City, Kansas, along with their son Kevin.
The military transferred Marion to Killeen, Texas, where they made their home for many years.
While in Texas, Fredi worked many different jobs, primarily as a chef. Until her move to Council Grove, she worked for Head Start of Killeen, Texas, for several years. She was a talented woman who was called upon for many different things. She also attended Mary Hardin Baylor College at Belton, Texas.
Fredi is survived by her son Kevin Wells and Marlenis, of Bronx, New York; daughter Tanya Gierke and husband John, of Conway, Arkansas; grandchildren, Aiden Wells and Nicholas Gierke. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Zuege, of Council Grove, Kansas, Linda Burke and husband Bill, of Laredo, Texas; and brother Joseph M. Rice and wife Anna, of Rolla, Missouri.
At her request, Fredi was cremated. Fredi was an organ donor, and was able to extend the gift of sight to two people.
