Vernon H. Day, 95, longtime resident of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Morris County Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1919 in Alta Vista, KS to William and Cora (Grubaugh) Day. He married Alberta Richardson on June 18, 1942. He joined the United States Army on October 10, 1942 and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1946.
Vernon enjoyed his home and yard and tinkering on things. His Chihuahua, Chico was his loyal companion. He will be sadly missed by all.
Vernon worked at Ford Garage, Skelly Oil Company, delivered propane, and Kansas Instrument, where he retired in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alberta in 1994, and sons, Danny Day and Billy Dean Day.
Vernon is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Westover (Floyd); grandchildren, Ronda Frazier, and Randy Frazier (Charlene), all of Salina and Mitchell Day (Lacey), of Moundridge; step-grandchildren, Veronica Miley, Eugene Westover, and Markus and Mike Anderson; great-granddaughter, Amber Frazier; and step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
